Thomas van Raamsdonk
General Manager, Pro Clima (NZ) Ltd
Thomas gained an engineering degree specialising in building physics and energy efficiency from the University of Applied Science in Rosenheim, Germany. He then completed an internship as an engineer in Japan and moved to New Zealand in 2003. Thomas possesses extensive knowledge and research on airtightness, thermal bridging and healthy homes and his work has resulted in a significant publication, A New Zealand Based Study on Airtightness and Moisture Management. For many years Thomas has also been a Blower Door instructor and has recently supported the development of the new FireProtection software for enclosure integrity testing.
Thomas has featured as a keynote speaker at numerous events organised by city councils throughout New Zealand as well as BOINZ, The New Zealand Green Building Council, The German Business Association of New Zealand and many others. His expertise and extensive experience are always in demand and he is presenting at the South Pacific Passive House Conference in Melbourne in early February 2016.
Thomas has been a director of several companies until the opportunity arose to introduce pro clima to New Zealand in 2006. He has been the General Manager of Pro Clima (NZ) Ltd ever since and is passionate about growing the business through knowledge sharing on how building standards and systems can be vastly improved. He is determined and dedicated to turn things around in New Zealand and help to provide the long term solution for that which every family deserves ‐ warm, dry, healthy and energy efficient living.
